Step 3 : from Iffigenalp to cabane des Audannes

Follow up the Rawyl Pass path (2429 m). This is less laborious than you could have thought because it's a comfortable path and you can take advantage of the morning coolness. After 2 hours, you arrive to Stiereläger and to the junction to Wildstrubelhütte. The path is becoming less steep and soon you arrive to the pass, 30 min.

After the pass, a good footpath, nearly flat, follow across Plan des Roses until a small pond which does not have a name on the map but which is called "gouille du Plan des Roses" by around people. Yes, now you are in the french-speaking part of Switzerland! A flock of heifers stay there all summer on that large plateau, 40 min. (From there, it's easy to reach "l'Etape de Lourantse", near Tseuzier lake, in 1h30, as an issue when it's really bad weather or on purpose to stay a little around (and that is really a good idea).

On north of the pond, take a small path across hills and lapiaz. Lapiaz is a geologic formation of irregular limestone deposits with sinks, underground streams, and caverns. To go across these aereas which have a very tormented relief, you'd better to have free hands and to fix the alpine poles on rucksack. After a ridge at 2480 m, you go down near the lake of Ténéhet, (2440 m). Be careful not to miss the lake which is hidden at bottom of a tiny valley, at 50 meters west of the signpost, 1h30.

After the lake, you continue the way to Audannes. You go a little down and then you enter in the large Lapiaz de Ténéhet. After the lapiaz, you just have to climb up the small valley until the pass (col des Eaux Froides), (2648 m), 1h30.

From the pass, you can see the cabane des Audannes. Go down to the lake and up for the remaining 40 meters of your day.

Up 1400 meters, down 500 meters, 7 hours
